In 2024, for the first time since 1997, the Office of Management and Budget published revised standards for federal data on race and ethnicity, but more progress is needed to better understand mental health disparities in the U.S. This brief is part of a series by the Data Equity Coalition calling for standardized data collection methods around race, ethnicity, language (REL), sexual orientation, gender identity (SOGI) and disability status.
