Alexandria, VA – Mental Health America is excited to welcome an exceptional lineup of Main Stage speakers for its 2023 Mental Health America Conference: Next Gen Prevention, taking place June 8-10 in Washington, D.C., and online.

Just-announced special guests:

Dr. Miriam E. Delphin-Rittmon: As Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Delphin-Rittmon is dedicated to advancing the behavioral health of the nation and improving the lives of individuals living with mental and substance use disorders, and their families.

Rachel Aviv: Earning critical acclaim with the release of her first book, “Strangers to Ourselves: Unsettled Minds and the Stories That Make Us,” journalist and author Aviv is a staff writer at The New Yorker and writes about the challenges facing vulnerable communities in America and the state of the mental health care system.

Carmela Wallace: A philanthropist, entrepreneur, and the mother of the late Juice WRLD, Wallace established Live Free 999 to help those who suffer in silence and normalize the conversation about mental health and addiction.

Dr. David J. Johns: Johns is the executive director of the National Black Justice Coalition, a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+, and same-gender loving (LGBTQ+/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.

Autumn Rose Miskweminanocsqua (Raspberry Star Woman) Williams: The former Miss Native American USA is a mental health advocate and works to help champion Indigenous issues related to communities within the lower 48, Alaska, and across the Pacific Region, including Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

We’ll also hear from U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek H. Murthy and U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.

The Annual Conference will bring together Mental Health America affiliates, peers, providers, government officials, media, and key stakeholders to discuss promoting lived experience, advancing health equity, and centering the social determinants of mental health. Attendees will explore the ways these topics intersect with our collective efforts to promote well-being, prevent illness, increase resilience, and foster recovery – all at population scale – with a focus on Next Gen Prevention.
