Providing “Extra Spoons” for those with Chronic Health Conditions
Extra Spoons is a grassroots organization and volunteer mutual aid program that was founded as a resource to provide support to individuals who struggle to complete day-to-day tasks due to chronic health conditions. The worsening of the mental health crisis in America during the COVID-19 pandemic acted as a call to action to those able to help from their living rooms.
In this webinar, we will:
- Discuss the mental health crisis during COVID-19, including the difficulty people with chronic health conditions experience navigating the health care system, and the need for support.
- Identify how social networking allows peers to give mutual aid based on soft skills.
- Highlight “Extra Spoons”, and how it provides support and maintains equity for people of all socio-economic backgrounds.
